Portrait of Sarah

 PORTRAIT OF SARAH

I’d like to paint a portrait of Sarah

The portrait that’s implanted on my mind

I’d like to paint a portrait of Sarah

A portrait of the best girl you could find

I’d like to paint a portrait of Sarah

The girl that’s driving me almost insane

I’d like to paint a portrait of Sarah

And maybe it will help relieve the pain

A portrait of Sarah, the best girl in my life

A portrait of Sarah, but she’s someone else’s wife

With wedding bells and pretty girls, all standing in a row

I'd like to paint a portrait of Sarah

I still love her but I don't want her to know

As she stepped onto the isle, she looked at me and gave a smile

She said, “I'm glad that you could make it here today”

But I could not reply, for the tears came to my eyes

But it’s just as well, for I didn’t have much to say

I’d like to paint a portrait of Sarah

The most beautiful girl that you could find

I’d like to paint a portrait of Sarah

So that I can get her out of my mind

A portrait of Sarah, the best girl in my life

A portrait of Sarah, but she’s someone else’s wife

With wedding bells and pretty girls, all standing in a row

I'd like to paint a portrait of Sarah

I still love her but I don't want her to know
