DOLE
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
I can’t afford a pair of shoes
I get just enough to pay the rent
But with a loaf of bread, all the money’s spent
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
I'm on the road to ruin, I've lost everything I had
What do they think they are doing?
They're policy’s driving me mad
I can’t get a job, even though I've a trade
I just go with the mob, to the dole to get paid
What a meaningless life I have to endure
No respect from my wife, no work anymore
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
I can’t afford a pair of shoes
I get just enough to pay the rent
But with a loaf of bread, all the money’s spent
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
Sing a song of romance, sing a song of joy
Sing a song of happiness, for every girl and boy
Sing a song of politics, sing a song of doom
Sing a song of poverty, an overcrowded room
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
I can’t afford a pair of shoes
I get just enough to pay the rent
But with a loaf of bread, all the money’s spent
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
I'm on the road to ruin, with a thousand bills to pay
The gas man is coming tomorrow, the electric man today
I've got bills to pay and a baby to feed
I can’t go on this way, so many things we need
What happened to the life that we used to lead
A happy family, so happy indeed
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
I can’t afford a pair of shoes
I get just enough to pay the rent
But with a loaf of bread, all the money’s spent
I've got the doleful dole queue blues
